The main reason why we use journey mapping is to avoid misjudging what our customers want by understanding what it is at a much deeper level. According to Harvard marketing professor Theodore Levitt “People don’t want to buy a quarterinch drill. They want a quarter-inch hole!”
Put simply, this means that a customer cannot always articulate his or her needs and through journey mapping we have a systematic tool to uncover those hidden needs and solve their problem with a minimum amount of inconvenience to them.
